Cooperation in the agriculture sector has ancient origins and has established itself over the decades as a useful tool to encourage the improvement of working conditions for farmers, to enhance the raw material and to market the products. Based on the solid values of the link with the territory and the maintenance of the dairy tradition, thanks to the fundamental impulse of the Latteria Sociale Valtellina, the cooperation has allowed entrepreneurial realities such as Colavev and the dairies of the Upper Lake and Bellagio to continue operating.
The Latteria Sociale Valtellina, which was born from the experience of the dairy dairies, was established in 1969. It is a first level agricultural cooperative that deals with the collection and transformation of cow and goat milk from farms located in Valtellina, Valchiavenna and Alto Lario. Today it has 110 members, almost all professional farmers, who provide 1200 quintals of 100% Valtellina fresh milk every day, and employs 110 employees.
