Description
Bernard Magrez, owner of Grands Crus Classes Pape Clement & Chateau La Tour Carnet in Bordeaux, is the owner and producer of Domaine d’Oustric wines from Languedoc France. Located in Couffoulens, close to the famous medieval town of Carcassonne, Domaine d’Oustric was a stopover in gallo-roman times in what is now the Pyrénées Orientales department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Couffoulens takes its name from the latin Confluentes, meaning confluence. This fortified village was founded in 1063, a stone’s throw from the Château de Couffoulens, built by the Romans. The town owed allegiance to the Counts of Carcassonne during feudal times. The architecture at Domaine d’Oustric is typically medieval. The name «Oustric» comes from a previous owner (1749).
